Longton Film Society offers to everyone a varied programme of the best current and classic films from around the world in a friendly, social atmosphere. Screening at Longton VM in the heart of Longton, our season now runs throughout the year. If you click the link to join our monthly “What’s On” newsletter we will keep you posted of all upcoming events We are members of Cinema for All, the national support organization for film societies, and of the Film Hub North West Central. There is no membership fee to join Longton Film Society as everyone is welcome and films are paid for by admission costs which are currently £5.00 per movie, ticket sales go towards booking films, venue hire, and promoting and developing Longton Film Society. So...if you love films, social evenings & friendly surroundings all at a great price, why not join us for a great night of cinema? The bar is open from 7:30pm with films showing at 8:00pm. CLICK TO JOIN MONTHLY WHAT’S ON  CLICK TO JOIN MONTHLY WHAT’S ON  Sunday 24th June Darkest Hour Starring Gary Oldman Plot summary In May 1940, the opposition Labour Party in Parliament demands the resignation of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain for being too weak in the face of the Nazi onslaught. Chamberlain tells Conservative Party advisers that he wants Lord Halifax as his successor, but Halifax does not feel the time is right. Chamberlain is forced to choose the only man whom the opposition parties will accept: Winston Churchill, the First Lord of the Admiralty.  Churchill tries to dismiss his new secretary Elizabeth Layton for mis-hearing him, which earns him a rebuke from his wife Clementine. King George VI, who strongly distrusts Churchill, reluctantly invites him to form a government. Churchill includes Chamberlain and Halifax.  Although he was right about the danger from Adolf Hitler, Churchill has a poor reputation because of his record in the Admiralty, the Gallipoli Campaign in the First World War,  Doors Open 7:30pm Movie Starts 8:00pm Pay Online or On The Door
